In a collaboration with Yarn Collective, Sister by Studio Ashby has launched a new fabric collection titled ‘Trippy’.
With workspaces becoming more aligned to the aesthetics of home interiors, it is exciting to see designers playing with form and function in a variety of ways. Added to the wellbeing benefits that can be found when working in a space which prioritises comfort and ambiance, design-led workspaces are becoming a common feature even in more corporate environments. And, while there are many ways in which to create a convivial atmosphere, such as lighting, texture and scent, one of the easiest routes is through the application of pattern and print which can feature on soft furnishings, room dividers, cushions, window dressings and even wall panelling.
Trippy, the new fabric collection from Sister by Studio Ashby, makes the perfect addition to the home office with its playful, psychedelic pattern that references the wavy fabric markings seen on moiré textiles. With the watered appearance seen traditionally on silk, as a result of a finishing process called calendaring, this capsule collection reimagines the finish with a fresh and contemporary twist. And, alongside its modern appeal, the fabric is made from 100% linen giving it breathable, antibacterial and hypoallergenic qualities thanks to its natural composition – a practical and healthy choice for home office environments. Not to mention the busy pattern which will also help to disguise lighter stains if needed!
Available in three colourways; heather, indigo and olive, the fabric has been designed by the studio’s founder, interior designer Sophie Ashby and comes almost a year since the launch of the company’s first fabric collection ‘Jocasta’. Speaking of the product arm of her interior design studio, which launched in 2020, she comments, “Sister has always been Studio Ashby’s playful little sister – somewhere we can experiment with new ideas and have fun. The Trippy collection is the perfect embodiment of this ‘Sister’ spirit while also being highly functional too.”
The fabric has been manufactured in partnership with Yarn Collective – a supplier offering a curated selection of interior textiles that prioritise both artisanal craftsmanship and sustainable values. Promoting and working with natural and recycled fibres, the company is helping designers to be more conscious with their fabric selections without having to compromise on aesthetics. “Working with partners who share our values couldn’t be more important and we’re really proud of our ongoing collaboration,” continues Ashby. “It has allowed us to bring our vision to life of beautiful, inspiring and high-quality textiles without compromising on our commitment to sustainability.”
So, if you’re looking to upgrade the home office, adding a unique fabric such as Trippy can be a simple, yet effective and practical, way to elevate the space. And, if working from the dining table is the reality, try utilising all three colourways across a set of dining chairs to create an eye-catching and cohesive statement.
The collection is now available online and starts from £194 per metre.
