From its roots in Kraków to its global ambitions, Nowy Styl is shaping the future of office environments with creativity and purpose
The mediaeval city of Kraków is where you’ll find the current administrative headquarters of Nowy Styl. But while this southern Polish cultural centre may be home to one of the inaugural UNESCO World Heritage Sites, featuring centuries-old architecture and one of the oldest universities in Europe, this Polish office furniture producer is very much looking to the future.
Tradition and modernity combine in Nowy Styl’s manufacturing set-up, too. The company’s wooden component processing plant is located in the village of Rzepedź, and the town of Jasło, just a few hours’ drive from Kraków, is where you’ll find Nowy Styl’s armchair and chair production plant. There, a combination of automated and manual process – from CNC to manual cutting stations, as well as a sophisticated barcoding system for assembly and warehousing – go into manufacturing and distributing products such as Nowy Styl’s best-seller, Iso.
This stackable conference chair has a simple shape and is popular in both workplace and educational settings, where an option with a surface for writing or typing on becomes indispensable. Originally started by brothers Adam and Jerzy Krzanowski in 1992, the intervening 30 years have seen Nowy Styl expand a growing range of products into different markets – notably Germany, which currently accounts for a third of its sales.
On the subject of Germany, the Hallenberg-headquartered Kusch+Co became part of Nowy Styl in 2019, and the two brands unveiled more than 20 new products at this year’s Orgatec in Cologne. “Orgatec announces upcoming changes that will be systematically introduced in our offer,” says Bartosz Karasiński, marketing director and extended board member.
The theme of this year’s product presentation is relationships. Over the past two years, the focus for Nowy Styl and Kusch+Co has been on responding to the post-pandemic shift – helping people reunite and reconnect at offices and other public venues. “Relationships are the colours of our lives,” continues Karasiński. “We see this in both professional and personal settings, whether it’s colleagues interacting at the office, friends meeting in a café, or strangers bonding in a stadium or airport lounge. Our goal is to create environments that support these interactions and add a touch of inspiration to them.”
To this end, new products included Tri.ply round pouffes, the EComo height-adjustable desk and the Future Chair, a key addition overall efficiency. Additionally, the location near the airport makes it easier for our clients to visit us.” This space demonstrates not just the variety, but also the effectiveness of Nowy Styl’s product range.
Featuring a reception, executive area, spaces for desk sharing and chill-out zones, it even has a ‘Food Garden’ where staff can prepare meals and eat together. Meeting rooms are themed around different countries, including Austria, Czechia, The Netherlands and England, as well as Poland, naturally.
From its Kraków base and in a relatively short period of time, Nowy Styl has established itself firmly on the international stage. Together with the Kusch+Co brand, it is committed to shaping modern workspaces with designs based on extensive research and solutions that resonate deeply with users.
