Lighting studio Cameron Design House embraces a striking, sculptural aesthetic in its first foray into furniture.
Since launching in 2014, the UK-based lighting studio, Cameron Design House, has become renowned for its statement chandeliers and thought-provoking designs. Now, in a new venture for the company, it has launched its first furniture collection. Unveiled at Decorex in October, the Kupoli Collection holds the same verve and flair as the studio’s avant-garde lighting creations and is turning the heads of both residential and commercial interior designers.
With ‘Kupoli’ being the Finnish word for ‘dome’, it alludes to the focal element of the twelve table designs which make up the collection – a tubular, metallic steel base. The size of the base varies across the dining, coffee, and console table configurations with a wide array of vibrant hues adding to its futuristic feel. Finished with a glass tabletop, the base remains the centrepiece of each design.
Speaking of this new direction, co-founder and Creative Director Ian Cameron feels it is the perfect time for the brand to expand into the world of furniture, especially as it nears its tenth anniversary. “The collection celebrates the best in craft with a futuristic edge, bringing a sense of wonder to any project,” he comments, while also alluding to his own background within furniture design. Reigniting his skillset within this collection, it brings a new dynamic to the studio, while seamlessly merging the worlds of craft and sculpture.
While designed with residential spaces in mind, the tables can also be applied to a variety of settings. Be it a hotel lobby, corporate reception, or a contemporary co-working space, the tables will add energy wherever they are placed. And, with each piece designed in-house and handcrafted by artisanal experts in its Hertfordshire workshops, it pays homage to the depth of scope available within the UK studio and its unwavering commitment to quality. Through merging superior craftsmanship with a future-focussed aesthetic, the studio continues to uphold its unique design sensibilities while pushing the boundaries of design with a fresh and exciting perspective.
