Every year, Clerkenwell plays host to different exhibition spaces each with a different curatorial focus. CDW 2018 will bring you familiar exhibitions like Detail and Platform with a respective focus on luxury interiors and emerging talent, but also brand new venues like Light and Elements which promise a different-from-before focus on lighting and architectural accessories.
DETAIL
Housed in the Garden & Crypt of the Order of St John, Detail focuses on the principles of fine craftsmanship and glamour, showcasing the best and most prestigious names in luxury interiors. Exhibitors include Arte wallcoverings who will present a new durable vinyl collection for the office under the label of Arte Contract (pictured) and Svensson fabric with its satin-like Velvet collection made from Trevira CS – a durable material fit for public spaces.
PLATFORM
Hosted within the subterranean depths of The House of Detention, just above Clerkenwell Green, Platform is an ode to some of the world’s most exciting and up-and-coming design talent. Aside from the rare opportunity to explore London’s Victorian dungeon, the public will also discover products like Arte&Stili’s bespoke handmade ceramic tiles fit for the home and residential-infused offices, John Eadon’s freestanding modular shelving unit, and Biegert & Funk’s QLOCKTWO – a unique product which displays time using typography in several languages (pictured below in italian).
LIGHT
Aptly named, this exciting new exhibition dedicated to light will take over former cold-store turned nightclub Fabric, where international lighting brands will showcase their latest collections with spectacular stand-alone lighting installations against the club’s brick vaults. Exhibitors include British brand Bert Frank with their mid-century-with-a-modern-twist range of luxury lighting, Brokis who will show a selection of its hand blown Bohemian glass lighting, and Nulty Bespoke who will show a selection of its custom, handcrafted luminaires (pictured).
ELEMENTS
New for 2018, Elements will bring together a leading selection of ironmongery, hardware, switch plates and architectural accessories within a street-market style pavilion on St John’s Square. This year, British light switch company, Forbes & Lomax will be introducing the Aged Brass light switch (pictured) to their existing Invisible range. Other exhibitors include ironmongery design company The House of Eroju who will be launching a range of new door handles and introducing their latest Marble and Bronze range.
