Original BTC
Lighting company Original BTC is launching a plethora of new pieces, including the Chester range. Made in satin-finish copper with black braided cable, Chester comes as a desk, wall or standing lamp (the latter with two heads). The British brand is also exhibiting its new Hatton collection, a multi-faceted, origami-like design made in bone china, billed as its most technically challenging range to date.
100% Light
100% Light is a new feature for the show and promises to be LDF’s biggest showcase of purely architectural lighting. Brands such as LED Flex, whose products notably featured at Wolfgang Buttress’ UK Pavilion at the Milan Expo, and lighting and home technology studio Nude Designs, will exhibit in the special section on Olympia’s upper floor, where the products will be shown off to their best within a dark tunnel. The curated space will showcase lighting as well as the elements surrounding the subject such as controls, environment design and lighting effects.
Charles Lethaby Lighting
Walthamstow-based lighting designer Charles Lethaby has produced his wares from the Assemble-designed Blackhorse Workshop since founding his own practice last year. Lethaby uses an eclectic range of finishes on its luminaires, from burnished steel to vivid orange lacquer. He mostly employs multi-faceted, geometric shapes, exemplified here on his Capella pendant, an arrangement of 24 aluminium trumpets.
Sé
Sé will be presenting several pieces including a new floor lamp by Slovenian designer Nika Zupanc (whose Sé exhibition in Milan is pictured) plus updated designs from Damien Langlois-Meurinne and Jaime Hayon. It will be the first time that these three very different collections will have been shown together. Sé will also have a presence at Sketch in Mayfair, where on the evening of Wednesday 23rd September company founder Pavlo Schtakleff will host a talk with Zupanc and gallery owner Rossana Orlandi.
Lasvit
Bespoke crystal lighting manufacturer Lasvit will be designing this year’s entrance installation, teaming up with textiles brand Camira. The feature will be suspended in a huge space above the arrival area of the show, so it will be sure to create a dramatic first impression.
Designheure
French manufacturer Designheure will exhibit some of its ready-to-buy collections of unusual modern lighting designs, but the brand is also known for its bespoke service. Reserved for trade, this service allows clients to create unique pieces tailor-made to their projects.
