Danish textile pioneer Kvadrat has opened its first showroom in Manchester

“Manchester is a key city within the UK with a thriving design community and easy access for those visiting from outside of Manchester. These were both very important for us. We’ve had a presence here for a long time but having a showroom here will give us the chance to provide our customers with the best possible Kvadrat experience.” Says John Edwards, UK sales director industries of Kvadrat.

Kvadrat’s new 100sq ft showroom was designed by their own inhouse Exhibitions team and is located in the vibrant Mancunian neighbourhood of Ancoats.

“The showroom is based in Ancoats which was once the hub of the cotton industry in England and the mills are still there. This is a great link for us.” Explains Edwards.

Honouring heritage is important to Kvadrat. Founded in 1968, the Scandinavian brand is steeped in its world-famous design traditions and often draws on it for inspiration.

As one of the foremost innovators in the contemporary textile market Kvadrat has also collaborated with some of the world’s leading designers, architects and artists including Olafur Eliasson, Patricia Urquiola and Peter Saville.

Embodying the firm's spirit of collaboration, the showroom incorporates a selection of items from the Vitra collection made of Solid Textile Board, a high-density material created from end-of-life textiles and cut offs from Kvadrat.

Kvadrat outlet front windows are always a key element in the design of their showrooms and the Ancoat branch is no exception.

The striking brick arrangement, incorporating colour, adds an element of theatricality to the public-facing façade.

The space showcases some of Kvadrat’s most recognisable fabric, curtain and rug designs to architects, designers and private consumers looking to integrate the Danish company’s textiles within their projects.
