The Melting chair by Philipp Aduatz is carefully crafted to appear as a solid chair melting away or as a solidification of a liquid melt. To create this realistic illusion, Philipp studied the solidification of fluids as well as the melting of solids with 3D animation software. Available in a limited edition of 12, it was created using fibreglass reinforced polymer, a light and strong composite material that is very durable, and covered with a special mirror coating for a metallic appearance. A special clear lacquer is also used to protect the mirror coating from aging, making the surface of the Melting chair scratch resistant.
